Peter Quinn has been a Partner at Hill Lee & Scott for over 20 years.

Tim Sissons

Tim has a diverse client base with a particular focus in commercial, property and sports law.  Tim enjoys working closely with his clients to get a thorough understanding of their desired objective and then tailoring the legal solution to meet those needs.

Tim spent several years working away from the law, firstly in sports management then overseas at a Fortune 500 company and brings an understanding of the day to day pressures of running a business to his practice. With this wider background of experience, Tim brings a holistic view to his client's problems and views them not as stand-alone legal matters to be resolved but as advice that needs to fit within the wider goals of the client.

Brian Palliser QSM

Brian's time with the firm dates back to the late 1960s.  He has been the mainstay of Hill Lee & Scott for the better part of four decades. During this time, Brian has advised his clients in all matters of general practice from Civil Litigation, Resource Management, Business Acquisition and Company Formation, Intellectual Property, Succession Planning and Estate Administration.

Outside of work Brian is involved actively with government entities both through his involvement with the Christchurch City Council and the consular representatives of foreign governments in Christchurch. Brian is involved actively with the Canterbury University (as a Trustee of the Ada Rutherford Trust), the NZ Automobile Association (Councillor and former District President) and the local Chinese Consulate and community.

Brian is a Notary Public and has a longstanding involvement in International Relations.  He holds a Degree in Earth Sciences and is a Member of the Royal Society of New Zealand. He is also a foundation member of the Public Transport Advisory Group, Vice President of the New Zealand China Cultural Promotion Foundation and has Fellowships in the New Zealand Institute of Management, the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, the Australia and New Zealand College of Notaries and former Chairman of the Christchurch Seattle Sister City Committee

Brian's sporting interests are tennis, rugby, motor sports and aviation

Louis Quinn

Louis was admitted to the Bar in April 2020 and joined Hill Lee & Scott in September 2020.

He has been working predominantly on residential and commercial property transactions since then. He enjoys the process of helping first-home buyers into the market. Because of this Louis is now very familiar with the KiwiSaver First Home process and the Kāinga Ora First Home Grant process.

In his spare time Louis likes playing golf poorly, gardening begrudgingly and enjoying the cafes and bars in Lyttleton where he lives.

Jill O'Neill

Jill is a Senior Registered Legal Executive and is the latest senior staff member to join Hill Lee & Scott.

Jill comes to Hill Lee & Scott with over 35 years experience in law.  She has worked as a Senior Registered Legal Executive at major Canterbury law firms for over ten years. 

Jill brings significant expertise to the firm in the areas of residential conveyancing and other property matters as well as Wills and Powers of Attorney. 

She enjoys assisting clients with all residential conveyancing and associated matters and looks forward to being of assistance to all existing and new clients of the firm.

Kelley Burley

Kelley is a Registered Legal Executive and a Fellow of Legal Executives NZ. Kelley has day-to-day control of our estate adminstration and also advises our clients on matters including, Wills, estate planning, family trust formation and administration.

Nicola Thyne

Nicola is an experienced Registered Legal Executive and a Fellow Member of Legal Executives NZ.  She has over 30 years experience in various law firms in Christchurch. 

Nicola specialises in all residential property transactions and is able to assist first home buyers.  She also has experience with asset protection/estate planning including family trusts, Wills and enduring powers of attorney.

Jo Langton

Jo Langton is a Legal Executive, and has been with us since 2019 and is an Associate of the New Zealand Institute of Legal Executives.

Jo works mainly in residential and commercial conveyancing and is currently the President of the New Zealand Institute of Legal Executives, Canterbury Southern Districts Branch and has served on the Committee for a number of years.

Louise Prescott

Louise joined Hill Lee & Scott in June 2019 after completing her LLB and BA at the University of Canterbury. She was admitted to the Bar in September 2018.

Her work primarily focuses on residential conveyancing. Louise is currently on maternity leave.
